Mooring by boat
The Broads Authority provides free 24-hour moorings for boats adjacent to the pub, and a floating pontoon alongside makes getting on and off much easier, particularly at low tide. Both details are published by the pub itself.
You're at the tidal head of the navigation, so expect a real difference between high and low water; the pontoon is your friend at low tide.
About the pub
A historic, wonderfully remote riverside pub built around a mill keeper's cottage dating to 1560, community-owned since 2020 through a Community Benefit Society. Expect quality ales from local breweries, good honest food, a packed calendar of live music, riverside gardens and a warm welcome for families and dogs.

People describe it in pilgrimage terms: the candle-lit off-grid atmosphere at the head of the navigation, the community spirit, the local ales and the music. For many crews it's the single most memorable stop of a southern-rivers week.
Nearest hire base: Beccles; in season the Big Dog Ferry runs foot passengers between Beccles Lido and the pub.
