Mooring by boat

Use the same free 24-hour Coltishall Common moorings as for the Rising Sun: a 230-metre local-authority stretch, first-come, first-served, no booking.

As with all of Coltishall, you'll need to clear Wroxham Bridge first; hire craft use the bridge pilot.

Check before you go: Current official website address needs confirming with the owner.

About the pub

A 17th-century inn with distinctive Dutch gables, a restaurant and B&B rooms. This is the finer-dining option of the Coltishall pair, with an award-winning chef, locally sourced produce and a strong seafood showing, plus an outdoor patio and an extensive menu.

What visitors tend to say

Known among boaters as the special-occasion meal of the northern rivers: well-executed, higher-end cooking in a characterful old building, and a quieter alternative to its livelier neighbour.

Nearest hire base: Wroxham, about an hour and a half upriver.
